Genora S. Holloway, age 83, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Oxford Health and Rehab Center in Oxford, MS. She was born August 22, 1933 in Yalobusha County, MS to the late Thomas Steven and Mabel Louise Hardy Swearengen. Genora was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Water Valley; she worked as a teacher; and later worked as the Director for Special Projects at NMRC in Oxford, MS. Her passion was fishing, but she also enjoyed camping, traveling, working in her yard and her flowers, and crafting. Genora was an excellent cook and won many prizes for her baking. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Dr. Randy Bain officiating.
Genora is survived by her husband, Charles A. Holloway, Sr. of Water Valley, MS; her son, Steve Holloway of Water Valley, MS; her brother, Larry Swearengen (Janne) of Madison, MS; three grandchildren, Ashley Ritter, Rachel Sivils and Thomas Holloway; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles A. Holloway, II.
