Obituary

Hudson, MA

Anna “Auntie” M. (Karlson) Cloutier, 97, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Auntie was born in Hudson, the daughter of Lithuanian Stanley and Nellie (Shay) Karlson. Although Auntie had spent most of her life in Hudson, she lived in Cambridge for a period of time before returning to Hudson in 1984.

Her husband, Louis Cloutier, passed away in 1981. She leaves her niece, Amy Landry and her husband, Chris; two great-nieces, Chelsey and Cassia Landry; a brother-in-law, Robert Landry and his wife Judith, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Fuller, all of Hudson. She was predeceased by her brother Francis Karlson, her sister, Pauline Fuller and brother-in-law Elmer.

Auntie received her degree from the Boston Business School and began her career as a bookkeeper at Thomas Taylor in Hudson, ironically at the same building her mother worked in. After working briefly at Dartmouth College, Auntie spent the final 28 years of her career at Harvard University before retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Michael’s Parish, the Harvard Retiree Association and was a former member of the Hudson Women’s Club.

Auntie always loved to travel. Once driving to Florida via Route 1. More recently traveling to Disney World and cruising with family and friends enjoying many wonderful times. Auntie loved people, and genuinely cared about everyone she met. She was happy just being with everyone.

Auntie was a constant figure in the lives of Chelsey and Cassia, often having them sleep over on a school night so she could bring them to school the next day. She was a loving and devoted Aunt who will not only be missed by her family but also by our extended family and friends who lovingly referred to her as "Auntie," as if she was their own.
Auntie’s family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation for the care, love and compassion provided by two of her caregivers, Lisa Harwell and Vickie Sullivan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday, November 21, in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson followed by an 11 a.m. Mass in St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson.
