FALL RIVER – Alan D. Deston, age 70 of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016 after a long illness. He was the beloved husband to Denise (Lamothe) Deston for 14 yrs. Born & raised in Fall River, he was the son of the late Harold C. and Anne S. (Smith) Deston. Prior to retiring, Alan worked as a Master Plumber. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the AMVETS of Fall River, and a member of the Fall River Elks Lodge #118. He was an avid golfer, playing in the Fall River City Hall Golf League and the Elks Lodge Golf League.
Alan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who also loved to travel. One of his final trips was taking his grandson to Walt Disney World for the first time.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son: William Alan Deston (companion Michelle E. Degan) of Forestdale, MA; his daughter: Alyson Lynn Deston (companion Andrew Raposo) of Tiverton, RI; his stepdaughters: Heather Cordeiro (husband Brian) and Meghan Hague (wife Annelise Hague) all of Fall River; his 3 brothers: Robert Deston of Connecticut, David Deston of Fall River, & Gordon Deston of Delaware; 2 grandchildren: William Alan Deston Jr. & Liam Raposo; 1 great granddaughter: Alana Deston; several nieces & nephews.
Following cremation, his funeral will be held from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday with a visitation from 8:30-10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset at 11:00 A.M.
