Lena S. (Sylvester) Arruda, 91, of New Bedford died May 26, 2002 at home after a brief illness.She was the wife of the late Antone V. Arruda, and daughter of the late Louis S. and Helen (Medeiros) Sylvester.
Mrs. Arruda was born in Westport and had lived in Somerset and Dartmouth before moving to New Bedford.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Diana M. Henry and her husband Atty. James L. Henry, and Beverly A. May and her husband John J. May, all of New Bedford; a sister, Gloria Mello of Somerset; 3 grandchildren, James A. Henry of New Bedford, David J. May of Fulton, NY and Christina Kasinger of Needham; 5 great-grandchildren, Shelby Henry, Kodie Henry, Samantha Henry, Jacob May, and Julia Rose Kasinger; and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Manuel Sousa, Louis Sylvester, Helen Mello, Mary Resendes, Edith Monteiro and Alice DePola.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordThursday, May 30th at 11 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 12 Noon.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.Visiting hours Wednesday, May 29th from 4-8 PM.Interment St. John's Cemetery.
