Obituary

Myrtle Lee Warren, 95, of Rochelle, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at her granddaughter Angela Hardin’s residence in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, November 17, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. David Clark and the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Mrs. Warren was born September 23, 1921, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Merle Russell & Rose Hunter Wyman. She grew up in the Great Depression and was a 1938 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, where she was the first drummer in the high school band. She attended Perry Business College in Savannah. She worked at Wyman Grocery Store with her parents for 38 years. She also worked at Fitzgerald Specialty Company and General Telephone. She was a secretary and switchboard operator for Rainbow Manufacturing for 20 years. While working at Rainbow, the first irrigation systems were installed in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Pakistan. She moved to Rochelle in 1993 and restored the Mashburn home. She also worked at Rochelle City Hall as a senior worker. Mrs. Warren was a former member of First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald where she taught Sunday school for Life Care Center and the Colony Home for over 18 years. She was a member of Christian Home Baptist Church.

She is survived by a grandson, Michael A. Harris of Atlanta; a granddaughter, Angela & Jerry Hardin of Fitzgerald; two great-grandchildren: Brittney Hardin and Jeremy & Diane Hardin; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Hospice Care Options, Dr. Tom Mann and special family friend Helen Cook for their compassionate care and love. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert “Bob” Walker, J. C. Clements, and John Pershing “Buck” Warren; a daughter, Brenda Maureen Jones; a sister, Mildred Brown; and a niece, Emily Brown.
