Opal “Pat” Elizabeth Owens Gibbs, 86, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Elder Marty Mullis officiating. Mrs. Gibbs will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 17, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ronnie Connor, Jeff Connor, Michael Moorman, Jay White, Josh White and Edwin Clark will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy White, Gary White, Nick Connor, Steve Crenshaw and Wayne Walker, Jr.
Born September 1, 1930 in Wilcox County, Mrs. Gibbs was the daughter of the late William Henry Owens and Sarah Bertha Clark Owens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon H. Gibbs; and a brother, Duffey Owens. She was retired from clerical work at Tift Regional Medical Center and a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Gibbs is survived by one daughter, Pamela Faye Golden of Tifton; three sisters, Louise White of Watkinsville, Melba Connor of Seville and Freda Crenshaw of Conyers; two grandchildren, Melissa Dill and Brittany Walker and Wayne Jr. and Melissa Walker; and four great-grandchildren, Christina Dill, Emily Walker, Jacob Walker and Wyatt Walker.
