Obituary

CHICOPEE – Shirley J. (Boisvert) Plante, 86, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on July 25, 1930, the beloved daughter of the late Aldemore E. and Aurore (Mason) Boisvert. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and currently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church, both of Chicopee. She enjoyed sewing and craft making and loved to cook, never forgetting to use just enough salt. Above all, she loved all of her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving son, David M. Plante who was Called Home on August 9, 1976; and her dear sister-in-law, Cecile C. Vermette who was Called Home on November 6, 2002. She leaves her devoted husband and best friend, Donald S. Plante. They were married at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church on October 29, 1949 and were blessed with over 67 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children, Sue A. Laizer and her husband, Michael, of Holyoke, Denise M. Pavao and her husband, Tom, of Ashfield and Ronald M. Plante and his partner, Gina Raschilla, of Springfield; her two cherished granddaughters, Andrea N. Laizer and her partner, Nelson Diaz, of Denver, CO and Nicki E. Haluch and her husband, Eric, of Westfield; her two dear brothers-in-law, Raymond Plante and his wife, Elaine, of Chicopee and Lionel Vermette of Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Plante and Boisvert families. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning, November 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
