Victor J. Ladetto, 83, of Dartmouth died November 14, 2016 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Ann Marie (Murphy) Ladetto.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Victor and Florence L. (Kelley) Ladetto, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Ladetto was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth.
He was a teacher in the Dartmouth School System for ten years and principal of the Cushman School for twenty-nine years.
Mr. Ladetto received a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Colby College and a Masters Degree in Education from Bridgewater State College. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Education Association.
Mr. Ladetto was a sergeant in the 592nd Artillery Battalion in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.
The family would like to extend its appreciation for the care that Victor received at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home and at St. Luke's Hospital.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. John V. Ladetto and his wife, Dr. Stephanie M. Peduto of Cumberland, RI; a daughter, Katherine A. Ladetto and her husband Dr. Maciej T. Knapczyk of Beverly, MA; four grandchildren, Allison G. and Reece J. Ladetto, both of Cumberland, RI and Margaret S. and Izabella V. Knapczyk, both of Beverly, MA; a brother, Robert J. Ladetto and his wife Roberta M. of Clarkston, MI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the father of the late David M. Ladetto, the brother of the late Marilyn S. Pettengill and the brother-in-law of the late Albert F. Anderson.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 18th at 11:30 AM in St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Visiting hours Thursday, November 17th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders Dwyer Funeral Home, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Victor J. Ladetto Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of Dartmouth High School, 555 Bakerville Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02747.
