Juana Asevedo, age 64 of Prosser, entered into rest on November 10, 2016 at Sunnyside Community Hospital. She was born on May 16, 1952 to Lucio and Esther (Madera) Landa in Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico where she was raised and educated through the third grade. At the age of twenty-five she moved to the United States and settled in Prosser where she worked in the agricultural industry picking apples, cherries and asparagus. Juana and Jose were married on July 27, 1978.
Juana enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb. She loved flowers and her yard and house were filled with them. She also enjoyed crocheting, decorating her home and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with and taking care of her family. Her family in Mexico was also important to her and she would travel to visit annually. Juana was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and she had her children baptized there.
Juana is survived by her husband, Jose; her daughter, Aida Asevedo; her son Eliasar Asevedo and his wife, Susy; her grandchildren, Marissa Asevedo, Eliasar Asevedo Jr., Ileanna Asevedo, Dominic Asevedo; and her mother, Esther Landa. She was preceded in death by her sons, Lionel Asevedo and Joel Asevedo; her brothers, Celedonio Landa and Claudio Landa; and her father, Lucio Landa.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 15 at Prosser Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser.
