Rubin Johnson, age 87, of Water Valley, MS died Monday, November 14, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, TN. He was born August 28, 1929 in Hermitage, AR to the late Robert Sisro and Edrie Catherine Smith Johnson. Rubin served in the United States Navy during Korean War; was a mason; and was a member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley. He served as a Baptist Minister in Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Rev. Randy Bain officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in the Blackton Cemetery in Blackton, AR.
Rubin is survived by his wife, Pauline Franklin Johnson of Oakland, MS; two step-daughters, Rosaland Cooper (Terry) of McKinney, TX and Vi Greene (Jack) of Ham Lake, MN; one step-son, Gene Novak of Flora City, FL; one sister, Docie Johnson of Jonesboro, AR; two brothers, William “Bill” Johnson (Rita) and Byron Johnson (Frances) all of Texarkana, AR; twelve step-grandchildren; twenty-seven step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Bobby Shoemaker; one step-son, Larry Novak; five sisters, Mary Jane Johnson, Irma Imhoff, Margie Hobbs, Martha Dawson, and Savannah Allen; five brothers, Bernice Johnson, Norman, Johnson, Homer Johnson, Billy Johnson and Robert S. Johnson, Jr.
