Obituary


Ernest J. “Skip” Butler, age 72, of Brockton, died November 12, 2016 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Skip was the loving husband for 51 years of Marcia A. (Bourgeois) Butler. Born and raised in Newton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Pitts) Butler. Skip was a graduate of Newton North High School, and served in the Army National Guard. For many years he had been employed as a Manufacturing Manager for Digilab in Cambridge and Bio-Rad in both Cambridge and Randolph. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, golfing and fishing. He was a member of the Bertocci Club, a life member of the Amvets Post 79 in Natick and longtime member and Trustee of the Vega Club.

Skip is also survived by four sons, Michael, Brian and his wife Lisa, Robert and his wife Kerri and David and his wife Yvonne; nine grandchildren Ashley, Andrea, Alexandrea, Amanda, Sarah, Brianna, Bobby, Kailey and Cameron and three great grandchildren. He was the brother of Joseph Butler and his wife Marcia, Marjorie Bevere, Gracie Murray, Mary Lou Leger and her husband Arthur, George Butler and his wife Irene, and the late Roy Butler. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Jean Butler and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 4-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 10am, followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
