John S. Lindsay, age 55, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Thurs, Nov 10, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on Feb 8, 1961 in Springfield. He was a lifelong resident of Chicopee and a former communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Parish. He attended Cathedral High School but graduated from Chicopee High School in 1979 where he was a member of the basketball and track teams. John was an Army veteran attaining the rank of Specialist. He leaves his parents James and Marcia (Shea) Lindsay of Chicopee; one brother, Michael Lindsay and his wife Corinne of East Longmeadow; two sisters, Suzanne Stockley and her husband Paul of Longmeadow and Donna Berneche of Chicopee. John will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews along with his aunts, uncles, and cousins. John was predeceased by one brother James W. Lindsay. A Memorial Service will be held on Thurs. Nov 17, 2016 at 1 PM at the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee, MA 01013. Burial will follow with Military Honors at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling Hours will be held on Wed, Nov. 16, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM and on Thurs, Nov 17, 2016 from 12 to 1 PM at the funeral home.
