Bernard I. LaFleur, age 91, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Nov 11, 2016. He was born on Mar 5, 1925 to the late Raymond and Eva (Theroux) LaFleur. Bernard graduated from Chicopee High School. Bernard was a WWII Army Veteran serving with the 521st Ordinance Co. as an Artillery Smith in Germany and France. Bernard and his brother Lionel were owners of the former LaFleur Hardware in Chicopee. He served for over 30 years as a firefighter on the Chicopee Fire Department, and retired at the rank of Captain in 1990. Bernard leaves the love of his life of 68 years Lucette (Boivin) LaFleur of Chicopee; one son, Dr. Gary B. LaFleur and Cathie of Frankfort, KY; one daughter, Doreen Lapan and her husband Roy of Southampton; four grandchildren, Lindsay Lapan, Aubin Whitaker and her husband Craig, Alyssa Boudreau and her fiancé Nathan Marcucci and James LaFleur and his wife Sheila; two great grandchildren, Danielle and Alayna Whitaker and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother Lionel LaFleur. Calling Hours will be open to the public and held on Thurs, Nov 17, 2016 from 4 to 7 PM at Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee. Funeral Services on Friday are private for the family. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bernard's name to Shriners Hospital 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
