Samuel W. “Sam” Lokey, 42, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Monday, November 14, 2016, at Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald with the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. Scotty Jarvis will give the eulogy. Interment will be private.
Sam was born December 14, 1973, in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, Germany, while his father served in the United States Army, to the late Thomas Mallie & Mary Jo Scarborough Lokey. He was a 1992 graduate of Cook County High School. Sam studied pre-pharmacy at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and earned his PharmD degree from Mercer University in 1998. He worked as a pharmacist at Winn-Dixie in Tifton and later did agency work filling in at pharmacies throughout the area. Sam purchased Colony Discount Drugs in Fitzgerald on July 15, 2011 and immediately became an integral part of the community. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and loved to fish. Sam enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to Disney World, and was proud to pass on his love of Star Wars to his boys. He supported many clubs and organizations in the community and was a devoted father and fan of sports and activities his sons were involved in. He attended Central United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Candy Lokey of Fitzgerald; his two sons, Gage Lokey and Garrett Lokey, both of Fitzgerald; a brother, Joseph Alan “Jody” Lokey & LaRonda Cortez of Lenox; a sister, Anna Lokey Bagley of Eton; father & mother-in-law, Tommy & Barbara Gibbs of Enigma; two sisters-in-law, Carrie & David Conway of Tifton and Crystal & Charlie Stokesberry of Enigma; a nephew, Tyler Snow; and a niece, Camrie Stokesberry.
