Obituary

Whitman – Dorothea S. (Martin) Roth 93, a longtime resident of Whitman, died Friday November 11 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles R. Roth.

Born and raised in Lawrence she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel (Gebelein) Martin and a graduate of Lawrence High School.

Dorothea furthered her education earning her Bachelor’s Degree from Mass College of Art and her Master’s from Suffolk University and had worked several years as an art teacher.

She had moved to Whitman in 1955 where she and her husband Charlie had raised their two children.

In her retirement she was a familiar face having taught art classes and cooking at the Whitman Senior Center, and was a fifty year member of the Eastern Star.

She was a creative and talented woman, she loved cake decorating, cooking, knitting and cross stitch and was happy to share her creations with family and friends.

She is survived by her children David Roth and his wife Yvonne of Taunton and Sabra Roth of Las Vegas and her sister Carole Hill of Andover. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kala, Julie and Kristen.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service to be held Tuesday November 15 at 12:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10:00-12:00. A private burial will be held at a later date.
