Annunziata “Tina” (Mitrano) Nuzzi of Somerville died Wednesday, November 9, at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston, surrounded by her family. Born in Gaeta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Damiano and the late Maria (Vaudo) Mitrano.
Annunziata came to the U.S when she was a teenager. She settled in Somerville and there, she and her husband Angelo raised their family. She worked in her younger years at New England Telephone Company, but she was more interested in caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking and passing on many wonderfully Italian traditions to her daughters. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren and had shared with her family a deep devotion to saints Cosmas and Damian.
Annunziata was the beloved wife of Angelo Nuzzi and the devoted mother of Marguerite McCalsky and her husband Kenneth of North Attleboro, Elizabeth Nuzzi of Medford, Michele Guillemette and her husband Nicholas of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Derek, Brayden and Juliana, and the sister of Erasmo “Ray” Mitrano and his wife Lisa of Somerville. Annunziata was the sister-in-law of Angela Lavino and her husband Pasquale of Lynn, Maria Pagliaro, Domenico Nuzzi, Giovanna Nuzzi, Carmine Nuzzi, Elisa Mellone, Antonietta Reccia and all their spouses of Italy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Monday, November 14 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony’s Church, 12 Properzi Way, Somerville, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, 4 through 8 PM.
