Obituary

Malcolm R. Sherman, 62, of New Bedford passed peacefully in his sleep at home on November 9, 2016, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Diana L. (Green) Sherman.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late William E. C. Sherman and Claudia May (Smith) Sherman, he was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.

Malcolm was employed at Round Hill in Dartmouth as a groundskeeper until his retirement. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

An avid fan of all Boston sports, he enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He had a special way of making people laugh with his wit and charm. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his siblings, David and his late wife Christine of Wareham, William and his wife Joanne, Patricia (Sherman) Motta and her husband John, Belinda and her wife Cindy Ferreira, all of New Bedford, Bruce of Acushnet, Steve and his wife Tina of Dennis Port, and Kenneth and his wife Lea of Spring Hill, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A special thank you to Ashley and Susan of Compassionate Care Hospice of Fairhaven for their exceptional care and kindness.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016, from 4-8 PM in the Saunders Dwyer Funeral Home, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
