Obituary

WEBSTER – Helen D. (Plaza) Burt, 101, died Friday, November 4, 2016 in Lanessa Extended Care. Her husband of 62 years, Earl A. Burt, died in 1999.

She leaves 2 daughters, Jane B. Duhamel and her husband Robert J. Duhamel of Cumberland, RI, and Nancy C. Newton of Edgewater, FL; 8 grandchildren, Paul, Peter, Nicole and Jennifer Duhamel, Christine Mervin, Gregory Newton, Brenda Bowen and Patricia Malecki; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Joseph E. Burt and Richard S. Burt, and by her siblings Stanley, Frank, Walter, John and Stephen Plaza, Mary Dyson, Stella Pelletier, Anna Barrette and Catherine Lindberg.

She was born and raised in Dudley, the ninth of the ten children of Joseph and Magdelena (Duszlak) Plaza. She lived in Lincoln, NH for many years before returning to Webster.

Mrs. Burt co-owned the White Cottage Restaurant in Uxbridge and then the Spruce Log Cabins in Lincoln, NH before she retired.

She was a member of Saint Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley, and a member and past president of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She excelled at needle work, cooking and baking. She enjoyed reading.

A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 29, at 11:00 AM in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street, Dudley (please meet at the church). Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
