Kunz, Katherine Marie (Sammon), 98, of Roslindale, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2016. Beloved spouse of the late Lawrence J. Kunz, Kitty was the devoted mother of Kathleen (and the late Robert) McQueeney, Mary Medeiros, Lawrence (and Maureen) Kunz, Christine (and William) Martin, Lisa (and John) Korzec, Barbara (and Mark) Logue, and Regina (and Dennis) Podlesak. Her boundless love extended to her 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She encouraged their adventures, took pride in their accomplishments, and was the moral compass in their lives. Kitty was educated at Pius X School of Liturgical Music and Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart (Class of 1940) in Manhattan, and taught French and math after college in Providence, RI. For more than six decades, she gave her time and talents to a variety of organizations in Holy Name Parish and the wider community, teaching CCD classes, leading Girl Scout troops, and volunteering with the Bernadines, the Sodality, Maria Fo Mission, and the Voice of the Faithful. Her extraordinary commitment was recognized in 2002 with a Special Service Award from Catholic Charities of Boston. She loved all kinds of music and was proud to be a 50-year subscriber to The Boston Symphony Orchestra. Kitty also leaves many devoted nieces and nephews, as well as scores of friends and neighbors whose lives she touched in her own incomparable way.
Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Monday November 14, at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Holy Name Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours in the funeral home on Sunday November 13, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
