YANCICH, Charles T. Of Sherborn, died on November 5th at the age of 92. Charles, the son of Nicholas and Josephine Yancich and brother to Milan Yancich was the beloved husband of the late Elaine (Yokom) Yancich, father of Gary Yancich of Tampa, FL, Robert & Margaret Yancich of Franklin, MA, and Craig & Leslie Yancich of Medfield, MA. He was also the much-loved Grandad to Courtney (Yancich) Morrison, Matt Yancich, Chris Yancich, Justin Yancich, Lauren Yancich, Meggie Yancich, Will Yancich and great-Grandad to Rae Morrison, Samantha Morrison, & Eli Yancich.
Charles grew up in Whiting, IN, where he began his life long passion for music, learning to play the French horn at a young age. After serving in the military, he graduated from the University of Michigan School of Music, where he met his best friend and wife, Elaine Yokom. In 1954 he accepted a position with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, playing French Horn until his retirement in 1983. He and Elaine enjoyed their passion for travel taking many trips exploring Europe and Asia, while spending summers in the Berkshire town of Stockbridge, MA playing concerts at Tanglewood. His funny stories and easy laughs will be missed by all who knew him.
Visiting hours will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral home in NATICK, MA on Thursday, November 10th from 4-7pm. Burial at Pine Hill Cemetery on Friday will be private.
