Robert F. Connolly, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at his home. He was 73 years of age. Born in Woburn he was the cherished son of the late Richard F. and Ruth M. (Doherty) Connolly, Sr.
Robert was a 1960 graduate of Malden Catholic High School where he was an outstanding student athlete and excelled as a member of the hockey team. He was inducted into the Malden Catholic Athletics Hall of Fame. Following high school Robert went on to continue his education and to continue his hockey career at Boston College graduating in 1965. Robert was passionate about the game of golf. He worked for many years in golf course management. He was the Superintendent of the Winchester Country Club for fifteen years. He also worked at the Woburn Country Club and the Longmeadow Country Club in Lowell. In more recent years he owned and operated the Connolly Turf Management Company.
Robert is survived by his beloved brother, Richard F. Connolly, Jr. and his wife Ann Marie, of Concord. He was the loving uncle of Richard Connolly and his wife Allison, Ryan Connolly and Kevin Connolly, all of Boston. Loving great uncle of Finn Connolly. He is further survived by many cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Monday, November 14th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 3 thru 7 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Robert's memory to Malden Catholic High School, 99 Crystal St., Malden, MA 02148.
