KAPLAN, Maurice I. of Woburn, MA died unexpectedly on October 30th, 2016 at the age of 67. Born in Boston, Maurice was the devoted and loving husband of 33 years to Roberta Burton, beloved son of Ruth and David Kaplan, and brother to Michael and Barbara. He was the cherished cousin of Pamela and Allison Schmidt, Margrie Braverman, Lorna, Charles, Michael, Scott, and Lori Yanow, Hollie, Wayne, Jake and Sydney Nickerson, Stuart and Carole Kaplan and Russ, Lucy, Wilma and Tommy Fernandez. Maurice will also be dearly missed by his wife’s family, Cheryl Burton, Barbara and Maurice Richardson, Jeanne and Scott Leone, and Paula Burton. Maurice began his culinary career as a teen, becoming a chef, and later operating his own restaurant in Chelsea, MA. A lifelong epicure, he valued fresh seasonal and local ingredients and continued to refine his culinary skills throughout his lifetime. Maurice will be fondly remembered by family and friends for being an energetic, generous-hearted person who was also wonderfully irreverent, humorous, and sweet. He was a photographer, wrote poetry and loved birdwatching. He was compassionate and related to people in all walks of life. He could connect to every person in the room with his great smile and insights. Services to be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Avenue, Cary Sq., Chelsea, MA on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 1:30PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
