Eustace was born on December 24, 1934 in Montserrat, West Indies, to William and Henrietta (Ryan) Farrell. He was the third child out of eight. He talked fondly of his childhood in Montserrat. As a young man, he left his home in Montserrat and migrated to Great Britain. In England, he worked as a laborer. He reunited with most of his siblings in England. During his time in England, he often spoke about the family gatherings, parties and the many friendships he made. He talked at length about the hardships and harsh winters in England.
Later, Eustace migrated to New York, obtained employment working for a tailor and later became a citizen. He started commuting back and forth from New York to Boston where there was a community from his hometown in Montserrat. He decided to make Boston his home. He was hired for employment at Kassanoff's Bakery. He made many good friends there and they all loved him. After leaving Kassanoff's, he went to work for ITOA Cab. Eustace believed in hard work and had good work ethics.
Eustace was a business man, he decided to go into business for himself and he acquired two independent cab companies, Warren and Count Bassie Cabs. He took risk, and it worked out in his favor. He had numerous stories to tell about his customers and all the cabbies working the airport and the downtown area knew him well. His son worked the cab business with him and when Eustace finally retired, he began to enjoy traveling as well as in his free time he watched all the Boston teams.
Eustace went to the Center for the Blind, a day program, in West Roxbury after he retired. He enjoyed the many activities and the staff. He started helping some of the members, who were less fortunate than him, who were completely blind. He told many stories about the Center and his enjoyment there.
Eustace was compassionate, generous, friendly, caring, and joyous. However, he was strict, stern, and did not tolerate nonsense. He said what he felt and would not waiver. To know him, you loved him. He knew how to enjoy life and he did it well! He enjoyed cooking, entertaining, sports, music, shopping, discussions regarding current and world news. He loved gadgets! He knew carpentry, would work on the many homes he acquired. He had a love for cars, and he also was quite the mechanic. He was a sharp dresser and believed in quality. Eustace had charisma! He knew everyone he came in contact with personally, his neighbors, clerks at Walgreens, the butcher, the wait staff at Legals Restaurant, personnel at the doctor's office and too numerous to name, and they knew him.
