Richard J. D’ Auteuil, age 94, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died November 5, 2016 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis R. (Brady) D’Auteuil. Born in Maine and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Auguste and Marie Rose (Caron) D’Auteuil. Richard attended the Sacred Heart School in Brockton as well as Brockton High School before enlisting in the army to fight in World War II. He served in Normandy and Northern France during the war.
Richard was a Massachusetts highway worker until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Club National in Brockton as well as a parishioner of Christ the King for many years. Richard loved watching Boston sports, especially the Patriots and Red Sox. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his daughter-in-law Catherine L. D’Auteuil of Brockton; his grandchildren Richard M. D’Auteuil and his wife Grace of Nantucket, Susan M. D’Auteuil of Brockton and Jennifer L. D’Auteuil of Bridgewater. He also leaves his in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his son Richard J. D’Auteuil, Jr.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10:30 am in Christ the King Parish, 54 Lyman St, Brockton, MA 02302. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
