Obituary

Edward F. Mahoney, 79, of New Bedford died August 12, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of Patricia E. (Flaherty) Mahoney.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph A. and Ida (Torrey) Mahoney, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mr. Mahoney was formerly employed as a customer service representative for the U.S. Postal Service in New Bedford and Dartmouth until his retirement.
Mr. Mahoney served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a recipient of the Army of Occupation medal and the World War II Victory medal. He later served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service medal.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531, the American Legion, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Federation of Retired Postal Employees.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark M. Mahoney, Director of Emergency Management for the City of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joseph Mahoney, Grace Dumas, and Dorothy Weber.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Monday, August 15th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Sunday, August 14th from 4-7 PM.
Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
