Obituary

Mary Ellen Roberts Williams, age 90, of Chase City, Va passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016. She was born on September 26, 1926 in Chase City, Va to the late Charles Richard Roberts and the late Mary Sue Harris Roberts.

Mrs. Williams is survived by one son, Dr. Barry William Simmons, Sr. and his wife, Janie of Baskerville, Va, two grandchildren, Marysue Simmons Lewis and her husband, Sean of Baskerville and Barry William Simmons, Jr. and his fiancé', Ashley Wallace of Baskerville and one great-granddaughter, Courtney Ann Lewis. She is also survived by three step-children, John Thomas Williams, Jr., Elizabeth Williams Wayland and her husband, Wayne, and Walter Woody Williams, step-grandchildren, Millie Davenport and her husband, Dean, Martha Williams, Cara McFadden, and Jasmine Cage and her husband, Todd, step-great-grandchildren, Sims Davenport, Walt Davenport, Bryce Davenport, Blake Brookins, Caelan McFadden, Alex Hite, Maci Davis, and Ben Davis, one step-great-great-grandson, Braylon Brookins and nieces and nephews, Cary Wilson, Steve Roberts, Stuart Roberts, and Leliann Nunn.

She is predeceased by her husband, John Thomas Williams, three brothers, Maynard Roberts, Ernest Roberts, and Lloyd Roberts and one nephew, Dennis Roberts.
She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Chase City High School and then graduated from Smithdeal-Massey Business College in Richmond. After college, Mrs. Williams returned to Chase City High School and taught business courses for several years.

She is a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Chase City and a member of the Mecklenburg Country Club. She was a devoted supporter of Centenary Preschool and she loved her cats.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Chase City. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Episcopal Church cemetery in Baskerville.
