Obituary

Gabbert, Flossie Leola, 86, passed from this earth and into the arms of Jesus on November 7, 2016. She was a resident of Heartsong Memory Care in Louisville. Leola was born in Bonnieville, KY to parents, Reverend M. B. & Flossie Riggs Hodges.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her cherished husband of 60 years, James Gabbert; son, Billy Dean Gabbert; brother, Hartsell Hodges; and nephew, Terry Hodges.
Leola was raised in a Christian home that was the foundation of her life. Leola was a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church, her beautiful alto voice sang in the choir and gospel music brought her great joy throughout her life. She had a pure heart filled with goodness and lived her life a faithful servant of the Lord. Leola was employed at the American Tobacco Company and a retiree of Bell South.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Nelson Branham (Columbia, KY); sister-in-law, Mildred Hodges (Columbia, KY); devoted daughter-in-law, Sandra Gail Gabbert; granddaughter, Dana Brentzel (Kirk); grandson, Derek Gabbert; great grandchildren, Jada and Sonny; nieces, Pat Coomer (Cecilia, KY) and Kathy Dean (Columbia, KY); and nephews, Daryl Branham (Columbia, KY), Mike Hodges (Bowling Green, KY) and Tony Hodges (Glens Fork, KY).
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Heartsong for their excellent care, kindness, and love extended to Leola, in addition to Hosparus of Louisville.
Funeral service will be at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY on Thursday, 11/10/2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation on Wednesday, 11/09/2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday prior to service.
Burial at Resthaven Memorial Park.
