Obituary

Betty Hale King, age 71, of Ledyard, passed away on Friday.

She was born March 26, 1934 in New London, daughter of the late Wells and Elsa (Hanson) Hale.

She was a secretary at Electric Boat Company for 15 years and Anderson Labs, Inc. in Bloomfield for 2 years.

Betty was a member of the Ledyard Congregational Church. She enjoyed oil painting, playing the piano, cooking for family gatherings, and was an avid Red Sox fan.

Betty is survived by her husband, Charles T. King and Son David S. King, two sisters, June Hale Swedberg of MN and Marjorie Hale Hall of MI; three brothers, Charles A. Hale of Groton, Lawrence F. Hale of Pawcatuck, and Gary L. Hale of Killingworth. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Pauline Peckham, Ruth Giddings, and brothers, Robert V. Hale and Richard W. Hale. She is also survived by nieces and nephews including her neice, Paula F. Stauffer who dedicated countless hours of love and care during Betty's final months.


Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 9-9:45am. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10am with burial following in Elm Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arthritis Foundation, 35 Cold Spring Rd, Rocky Hill CT 06067.
