Mary E. "Mae" (Sullivan) Looney, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Courtyard Nursing Home in Medford. She was 73 years of age.
Mae was born in Boston on December 15, 1942, a daughter of the late James P. Sullivan and Margaret (Curtis) Sullivan. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial school and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1961. Following high school, Mae worked as an operator for the telephone company for several years.
Mae is the beloved wife of the late Peter P. Looney. She is the devoted mother of Peter P. Looney and his wife Diane of Marshfield, and Michelle O'Leary and her husband Thomas of Marshfield. She is the loving Nana Mae to Brendan, Molly, and Nolan Looney, and Brook and Meadow O'Leary. She is the beloved sister of James Sullivan and his wife Eileen of Billerica, Janis Kiely of Charlestown, and Margaret Godfrey of Charlestown. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Mae was the dear friend of Judy Evers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mae's Funeral on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
