CHICOPEE – Marie Rose D. (Berthiaume) Rivers, 86, a longtime resident of College Street and Britton Streets in the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, November 5, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at the Renaissance Manor on Cabot in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Taft Avenue in the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee on March 21, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late Aime and Blandine (Dalpe) Berthiaume. She was raised and schooled in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee and had lived in the Fairview section of Chicopee since 1958. She was last employed at the former K & M Electronics in West Springfield. Most of all, she was a loving woman who adored her family and her many friends. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Raymond W. Rivers who was Called Home on January 19, 2006. They were married on May 20, 1950 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving children, Roger F. Rivers and his wife, Beverly, of Pinellas Park, FL, Joanne M. Wright and her husband, Jack, of Chicopee and Paul L. Rivers and his wife, Del, of Apollo Beach, FL; her two cherished grandchildren, Roger F. Rivers, II and his wife, Leslie, and Joal C. St. Onge; her five cherished great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Madison and Caitlyn Rivers and Brady and Leanne St. Onge; her dear sister, Annette King of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Rivers and Berthiaume families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, November 9, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
