Obituary

COYLE Diana (Gernes) of Green Harbor and Estero, FL., formerly of Norwood passed away away peacefully on November 4, 2016 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

She was born September 21st 1940 in Boston, Massachusetts to Arthur C. and Eleanor R. Gernes of Newton Lower Falls. She attended Newton Public Schools and went on to obtain a degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After beginning her teaching career, she married John B. Coyle of Brighton, the love of her life. They were married for 53 wonderful years.

Diana and Johnny settled in Norwood Mass., their home for 38 years, where they raised their three sons. She continued her career, obtaining her Masters of Education from Curry College in Milton. Diana was the Director of the Norwood Cooperative Nursery School for over 25 years where she impacted the lives of countless children.

Summers were spent at the family cottage in Green Harbor, and upon retirement, they moved to Estero, Florida where she continued her enthusiasm for golf, gardening, and art.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother David B. Gernes. She is survived by her loving husband John B. Coyle of Estero, Florida and Green Harbor, her sons John B. Coyle, Jr. of Los Angeles, Brian G. Coyle of Miami, Timothy J. Coyle and wife Michelle of Stow, Mass., granddaughter Sophie Diana Coyle, sister Deborah Gernes of Austin, Texas, sister in law Mary (Coyle) Donnelly and husband James of Green Harbor, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Staff at NVNA Pat Roche Hospice of Hingham, Mass.

A visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal St., Green Harbor on Monday Nov. 7th from 4-8pm. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Tuesday Nov. 8th at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury.
