Obituary

Willester R. Guirado, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, November 4, 2016, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Blane Jacobs officiating. Her son-in-law, Steve Taylor, will give the eulogy. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.

Ms. Guirado was born April 28, 1940, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Hoke Smith & Johnnie Viola Hurt Rutherford. She was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Ms. Guirado was responsible for establishing the Ben Hill County Senior Citizens Center and served as director of the Community Service Center for over 25 years. She was affectionately known as “The Cheese Lady” for helping distribute commodities to families in Ben Hill County. She also assisted in distributing the Gottlieb Fund at Christmas. She loved spending time with her grandchildren as well as singing and listening to music. She was of the Church of God faith.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy & Steve Taylor of Fitzgerald and two grandchildren: Trent Taylor and NataleeAnn Taylor, both of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Joseph Guirado, Jr.; five sisters; and four brothers.
