Beth A. (Farnham) Augustyn, age 39, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22nd, at her sister’s apartment in Brooklyn, NY. She was receiving home hospice care for cancer. Beth, beloved daughter to Clement and Nancy Farnham of Holden, MA was born June 17, 1977 in Worcester.
After college, Beth spent several years as a nanny for families in the Central MA area. She had a passion for children and caring for them came naturally to her. Beth's approach, both traditional and holistic, encouraged learning through imaginative play. From this, she drew her life inspiration, which was drawing, writing stories and songs, creating recipes, and helping others. She was lively and spirited and made instant, meaningful, and lasting connections with all whom she encountered. She moved to Brooklyn in 2009 to be with her husband-to-be, Adam Augustyn. She instantly became a highly sought-after nanny for families in the neighborhood. Beth and Adam were married in Maine in June of 2013. She fell ill shortly after and was diagnosed in the fall of 2015. Throughout her illness, her husband and sister Erica were by her side. Beth is survived by her father and mother, sisters Debbie McMillen, Sarah Parker, Erica Farnham, and her nieces and nephews.
Family, friends, and community members that have supported the Farnham family are invited to the memorial service at Epworth United Methodist Church in Worcester, MA, at 12 noon on Saturday, November 12, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holt International, a non-profit organization that provides adoption support and services, including international adoption. We’ve requested that all gifts made in memory of Beth be allocated to the Special Needs Adoption Fund, a grant for families hoping to adopt a child with a special medical or developmental need."
