Obituary

Catherine F. Henry D’Aulnois, 66, a resident of Medway since 1985, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family after a long illness.

Born in Neufchatel-Hardelot, France on October 21, 1950, she was the daughter of Marie-Joseph (Lefebvre) Henry D’Aulnois of France and the late Jacques Henry D’Aulnois.

Besides her mother, she is survived by two sons, Michael Murray and Owen Murray, Jr. and his wife Samantha, all of Medway. She was the mother of the late Gabriel Murray.

She is also survived by three brothers Pierre, Benoit and Wencesles Henry D’Aulnois, all of France, one sister Felicite Beaudoin of Brunswick, Maine and many nieces and nephews.

Catherine's professional life included work as a real estate agent and French teacher, but her family life always took priority. She liked to say that raising her sons in a happy and healthy environment was her most important job, and she pursued it as a true calling.

She brought her cultural and artistic interests with her when she moved to the United States in 1979. This translated into elegant outfits she fashioned herself or to the revival of vintage items. Adept at upholstery, Catherine maintained an "atelier" in her home and brought fresh life to the antiques and furniture that clients entrusted to her care.

Finally, she was a keeper of traditions and ceremony, maintaining her French roots by sharing French cuisine and culture around the holidays with family and friends alike. She loved to travel back to France to visit with her family, and to listen to classical music at home.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway on Tuesday, November 8 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

A calling hour will be held on Monday from 6 -7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Catherine’s memory to AFTD, Radnor Station Bldg. 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Rd., Radnor, PA 19087 (https://www.theaftd.org).
