CHICOPEE – Edward E. “Eddie” Remillard, 66, of the Birch Park Apartments in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. He was born in Holyoke on February 18, 1950, a beloved son of the late Emile G. and Dorothy M. (Stewart) Remillard. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He furthered his education at Westfield State College where he took courses in computer programming. He later worked as a programmer at several area companies including Baystate Medical Center and Friendly Ice Cream. He was an avid golfer and a former member of the Ludlow Country Club and the Pine Grove Golf Course in Northampton. For many years he ran the Eddie Remillard Open (ERO). He leaves his beloved daughter, Jessica K. Remillard of Chicopee; his two loving sisters, Jean D. Placzek and her husband, Mark, of Westfield and Laura S. Downie and her husband, Gerald, of Chicopee; his three cherished nephews, Ronn and David Placzek and Jared Lamontagne; his best friend, Paul Winters; and his faithful feline companion, his cat Baxter. In addition, Eddie leaves his aunt and many dear cousins and numerous friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving brother, Gerald A. Remillard. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
