Walter P. Mendoza, 53, of New Bedford died August 12, 2005 at home after a long illness.
He was the husband of LuAnn (Rose) Mendoza.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Hilda (Vieira) Mendoza of Marion and the late Walter Mendoza, he had lived in Dartmouth for most of his life. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth.
Mr. Mendoza had been employed at the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School for the past two years. Prior to that, he had been employed as a machine maintenance worker at Bourg Warner/Regal Benoit for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; three brothers, Norman K. Mendoza and Randall D. Mendoza, both of New Bedford, and Roger P. Mendoza of Dartmouth; four sisters, Bernardine M. Correia and Carol Mello, both of Dartmouth, Jeannette Hathaway of New Bedford, and Audrey A. Herron of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Sunday, August 14th at 4 PM.
His family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 14th from 1-4 PM, prior to the Service.
