Funeral Services for Mrs. Catherine Odom Vinson, 89, of Rebecca will be held Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 2:30 in the Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rebecca. Mrs. Vinson entered into rest Friday at her residence following an extended illness.
The daughter of the late James Henry and Leffie Eugene Maddox Odom, she was born in Crisp Co., Ga. A member of the New Providence Primitive Baptist Church in Wilcox Co. she was a homemaker and a former employee of Manhattan Shirt Co. in Americus and Ashburn. She had resided in Turner Co. most of her life.
Mrs. Vinson was the widow of Mr. Jim Vinson who passed away on Jan. 11, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Corrie Collins, Maude Odom, Estene Odom, Geneva Odom and her brothers Wesley Odom and James Odom.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Lyndra and Charlie Mock, Tifton, Ga.; her grandchildren, Chad Mock and James Mock both of Tifton, Ga.; and Ivy and John Savelle, Albany, Ga. Her great-grandchildren Bentley Savelle and Collier Savelle both of Albany, Ga. her sister Wynette Odom Smith of Arabi, Ga., her brothers Ruis “Skeet” Odom of Arabi, Ga. and Joe and Faye Odom of Ashburn, Ga. her sister in law, Mamie Odom, of Ashburn, Ga. Her caregivers, Verna Gordon and Sharon Rice both of Fitzgerald, Ga. and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday at Perry Funeral Chapel from 1:00 PM till time of services.
