David E. Foley passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2016 in Springfield, MA.
David was born July 27, 1978, in Boston, MA and was raised in Lawrence, MA where he resided until early adulthood. He attended St. Augustine School, Lawrence, MA, (Class of 92’) and Greater Lawrence Technical School, Andover, MA, (Class of 96’), where he was a three-sport varsity athlete. As captain, he led the football team to several super bowl appearances, was named Eagle Tribune All-Star, Boston Herald All-Star, and played in both the Shriners All-Star Classic and Agganis All-Star Classic. David was also a three-year all-star in baseball as a pitcher and a two-time league champion in swimming. He had a passion for everything sports. David was the only REGGIE to ever start as a freshman in a State playoff game as a pitcher. He was a three year member of the Varsity Boys Swim Team. Four year Varsity Football.
David became the man of the house at an early age and helped his mother take care of his four sisters. He was a fierce protector of them all. He loved his children above all else, enjoyed drawing in his free time and was passionate about his belief in God. He had a very kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is remembered with love by his mother and step-father, Penelope (Kelley/Foley) and Ray Bardsley of Byfield, MA; his children, David and Makenzie Foley (10), Connor (6), and Angelina (2); four sisters, Julie Philbin (Foley) and husband, Jay of Newburyport, MA, Jessica Stack (Foley) and husband, Matthew of Hampton, NH, Elizabeth Sforza (Foley) and husband, Anthony of Merrimac, MA, and Theresa Brisson (Foley) and wife, Tara of Tilton, NH; step-sister, Vicky Nixon (Bardsley) and husband, Jerry of Spring Lake Heights, NJ; step-brother, Aaron Bardsley of Amesbury, MA; four nieces, Addison and Reagan Sforza and Katy and Elly Nixon, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He is predeceased by his father Edward F. Foley, formerly of South Boston, MA; his maternal grandparents, Guy and Mary Kelley of Lawrence, MA and his paternal grandparents, Coleman and Patricia Foley of South Boston, MA.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, MA. A funeral mass will follow at 12:00 noon, at St. Augustine Chapel, Lawrence, MA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of David may be made to the Canal Street Boxing Gym, 250 Canal Street, Lawrence, MA 01841. Canal Street Boxing, a non-profit organization, is providing a safe place for Lawrence City kids to go after school and in the summer. The youth of Lawrence are not only learning boxing skills, but also building comradery, discipline, self-esteem and character.
