Obituary

NO.FT. MYERS, FL.: Dean H. Ellsworth, 89, of N. Fort Myers, FL died at 3:15 AM, at Hospice House of Cape Coral. Dean was born January 1, 1927 in Worcester, MA, the son of Frank Harold and Marion (Hallock) Ellsworth. He married Marjorie Ellen (Gray). He served in the US Navy during WWII. Surviving are wife Marjorie; children, David E. Ellsworth and wife Cindy of Charleston, SC, Russell D. Ellsworth of Rogers, CT, Nancy E. Flynn of Spencer, MA, Betty J. Ellsworth of Spencer, MA, Barbara A. Walker and her husband Wayne of Cape Coral, FL, Mary E. Greenberg and her husband Rick of Arlington, TX; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arnold I. Ellsworth and Frank H. Ellsworth. Dean was a graduate of North High School and Boston Business Institute and Worcester Polytechnic Institute School of Industrial Management. He was employed by American Steel and Wire Company for 10 years and Worcester Controls Corporation for 35 years as a Systems Analyst. While living in Auburn, Dean was an elected Town Meeting Member, coached a Babe Ruth League Team and was head umpire for the Lassie League. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and participated as a choir member, Lay Leader, President of Triple M Club, and was a member of Annual Conference. With wife Marge, he traveled around the country in their motor home to visit national parks and historic sites. They also traveled to Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England to visit Methodist Heritage sites. They also traveled to the Holy Land with their church group. Upon retiring, Dean joined the Nomads as Volunteers in Mission for the United Methodist Church. Nomads are a group of retired people who travel in R.V.’s to mission sites around the country to do whatever work needs doing. Their last project was in Alaska at 3 different churches. They also did volunteer work at Koinonia in Americus, GA. They met many wonderful friends while doing this work. They retired again to N. Fort Myers, FL and joined the North Fort Myers United Methodist Church. Dean served on various committees and as church treasurer and sang in the choir. Now a member of Guiding Light Community Church in N. Fort Myers, again a member of the choir and the men’s quartet. He was an avid sports fan and moved to Fort Myers because of the Red Sox Spring Training site. He also supported the Patriots. His greatest joys were being with his family and going on their many camping trips and living a life of honesty and integrity.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Noon in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester, Ma. A calling hour will precede the service from 11 to 12 p.m. on Saturday. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial donations can be made to, Guiding Light Community Church, 1360 Touchstone Road, N.
