BUXTON- Carlene Mae Ehrenborg, age 89, longtime Buxton resident, passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2016 at Huntington Commons in Kennebunk.
She was born in Buxton on Nov. 4, 1926, daughter of the late Carlene (Owen) Rowe.
Carlene began a lifelong healthcare career in nursing after graduating high school. She is a graduate of the Maine Eye and Ear Infirmary and became a Registered Nurse and received her Bachelor's Degree in later years from St. Joseph's College in Nursing. Nursing was truly what she was called to pursue in life and she dedicated her life to the profession.
Carlene is a Past Matron of Pleasant River Chapter – Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Rebekahs, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Dorcas Society. During WWII, Carlene proudly served the country in the Cadet Corps.
She enjoyed reading, being in the outdoors, cooking, playing the piano and organ, hand-work such as rug making, and traveling.
Carlene is predeceased by her husband Robert Ehrenborg; step dad- Ernest Jones; siblings- Norris Rowe, Curtis Rowe, Stanley Rowe, Lee Rowe, Mazy Clough, Merna McKenney, and Methel Kimball.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce Drew of Gorham; son- Michael Ehrenborg and his wife Kathy of York; grandchildren- Chris, Lauren, Jessi, and Adam; great grandchildren- Kirsten, Colby and Phoebe; sister-in-law- Elizabeth Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday Nov. 18 from 3-5 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. During the visiting hours at 4 PM, there will be a Order of the Eastern Star service. A service will be held on Saturday Nov. 19 at 10 AM at the First Congregational Church of Buxton (Tory Hill Meetinghouse) in Bar Mills. Burial will follow at South Buxton Cemetery. Rev. Allison Curry will officiate.
