Obituary

Karen Marie Lalor-Stack, 60, of Derry, NH, passed away unexpectedly, with her family by her side, Monday, October 31, 2016, in Mass General Hospital, Boston, MA. She was born in Manhattan, NY on April 3, 1956, a daughter of Vincent and Marilyn (Mahoney) Lalor, and grew up in Sayreville, NJ the eldest of five siblings. Karen worked as an RN for more than 30 years at Mass Eye & Ear in Boston. Her spirit and dedication amazed those who worked with her. In her years there she proved her dedication many times by driving in dangerous weather to work so she could help patients in need of her assistance. Earlier in her career, she worked as a traveling nurse in Florida, Colorado and Washington DC at the G.W. Hospital when President Ronald Reagan was shot and cared for. Karen decided on a change of career and completed schooling to be a computer programmer.

Karen met her husband of 30 years, David, the night of New Year’s Eve, in Killington, VT where they were both vacationing. She enjoyed spending her time in the garden and had a love for flowers, especially wild flowers. Karen enjoyed vacationing at her lake house in Maine, reading by the dock, sunset boat cruises, watching approaching thunderstorms as well as spending time at her family's vacation home in the Catskill Mountains of NY, which she considered her true home. She enjoyed annual family vacations in Mexico. She was a veracious reader and enjoyed reading biographies, history and contemporary books. Karen was very involved in the Derry Public Library. She enjoyed tracing her family ancestry. One of her many admired traits were her fierce nature and drive.

She is survived by her loving husband David; two sons, Jordan and Brendan; daughter, Allison. She also leaves behind a brother, Keith Lalor; sister, Janet Ruggiano, sister Patricia Collatos and her husband Brian, as well as a brother in-law Gary. She also sadly leaves behind nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as well as her beloved Maltipoo Riley.
