Anita L. Tuttle
CASCO- Anita L. Tuttle, 70 passed peacefully in her sleep at the Gosnell Hospice House after a short illness on November 1, 2016
She was born November 24, 1945, in Portland, daughter of Mark Alfred and Muriel Bernice Lowell. She grew up on Long Island, Maine and graduated from Portland High School. Fresh out of high school she went to floral design school and worked for Sawyer’s Florist.
In 1971she married Bert Everett Tuttle and supported Bert’s military career living in various places around the country. They had a daughter, Michelle Lynn Simms. They eventually settled in Arkansas where she lived until August of 2014 when she came to live with her brother LeRoy and his wife Pat in Casco, Maine.
Her greatest pleasure in life was her family. Anita enjoyed painting and was an avid reader and loved stories and poems about Maine. She shared many memories of living on Long Island and recently said it was one of the things she treasures about her life.
Anita’s daughter Michelle and her husband Bert predeceased her. She is survived by her grandson Robert Lacy Simms and his wife Bethany and great grandson Grayson Oliver from Severn, Maryland. Her brother LeRoy Lowell and his wife Patricia Bessey.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday November 4 at Unity of Greater Portland, 54 River Rd, Windham, Maine.
