Mary Elizabeth (Toney) Jarvis, 85, of Anderson, IN died October 30, 2016 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Mary was born June 20, 1931 in Danville, Kentucky to Claude F. and Nannie (Rayburn) Toney.
She graduated from Parksville High School.
She attended Madison Park and East Side Church of God. She was primarily a homemaker and a children's book author. She was very involved with Sunday school and at church. She was an avid reader, seamstress, excellent cook and enjoyed crafts, flowers and birds. She was an excellent teacher for her family.
Survivors include her son, Harrison Hand (Dwight Jarvis) and daughter, Connie Anita Espinoza; two sisters, Bonnie Muse and Peggy Robinson; three grandchildren, Candida (Len) Schendel, Carmela (Felix) Bergara and David Jarvis; four great grandchildren, Fabian Bergara, Caleb Schendel, Briseis Bergara and Gracelyn Schendel; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin Jarvis died on Jan. 18, 2012; two sisters, Irma Page, Nancy Casey and a brother, Claude Toney.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at East Side Church of God with Dr. Kerry Robinson and Rev. Mark Shaner officiating. Burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
