Obituary

On Thursday, October 27, 2016, God decided he needed another Angel on his team. A strong, loving, beautiful one; so he chose Barbara Ann Carafelli. On this day she was surrounded by her Children and her best friend Corky Franzwa. She courageously fought her battle with cancer for almost 5 years with a resounding conviction of surviving the demon while emulating the cat with 9 lives through the process. Words can’t describe how much she will be missed; her smile, her unconditional love, and relentless strength. She was the best Mom, wife, Nana, sister and friend anyone could ever hope for. She has surely earned her wings here on earth. Some lives are like a song- rare and precious- We have been blessed to have heard her music. She was born November 3, 1951 in Chicago, was the oldest of 5 siblings; Lori, Ken, Dawn and Donnie in which Lori preceded her death at a young age.
Barbara married to Ray Carafelli Jr. on February 14, 1976 in Thousand Oaks, CA; the first couple to ever marry at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church. Barbie graduated from Thousand Oaks High School in 1969 and was a waitress at the Westlake Inn, Velvet Turtle and Casita Valdez. She then became a cosmetologist at Custom Cuts, JC Penny and Partner Salon. She then obtained her real estate license and worked for Coldwell Banker. Barbie loved to sing, dance and cook; frequently all at the same time. All who entered her home always left with a full tummy. Her doors were always open. To know her was to absolutely LOVE her!!
She is survived by her children; Lorie Carafelli-Fleming, Ronnie Carafelli and wife Casey Domingo, Christopher Carafelli and Kim McLaren, Dominic Carafelli and wife Kathy. Her grandchildren; Camden, Wade, Christina, Cade, Karli and Keihani. Her father Don Fransen Sr. and siblings Ken Fransen, (wife Brigitte), Dawn Bundy, Donnie (wife Debbie) Fransen and many nieces and nephews, and her most precious four-legged baby, Miley! Now she can continue to do what she always worked so hard to do; watch over and protect her Angels.
Please join us as we honor and celebrate her life on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Conejo Creek Park at “The Lakeside Pavillion,”1379 E. Janns Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA at 11:30am. We love you Mom! You are FOREVER in our hearts! We miss you already!
