Dr. John W. Resmini, Sr., of Medford, formerly of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 29th, in the Colonial Rehab and Nursing Center of Weymouth. He was 90.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Guido and Rosa (Ralli) Resmini. After graduating from Boston English High School, class of 1944, John enlisted in the United States Army during WWII on August 28, 1944 and was honorably discharged on June 26, 1946. He then attended the College of Optometry which started his thirty year career as an Optometrist. He was committed to caring for the members of his community both in Boston and Medford. After his retirement from medicine, in 1983, John worked for the Department of Defense until 1994.
John was a proud husband and father. His greatest joy was being with his family. John’s children will always remember him as being present and supportive. A selfless man, John could always be relied on to pick his daughter up from work at 1AM, take both children to the movies in Medford Square, drive both Lisa and John to and from concerts and events, and always made himself available to be there for his family’s needs. John was known for his love for sports, especially baseball. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He was also an excellent bowler and always enjoyed taking his children to the bowling alley on Saturday mornings.
John was the beloved husband of the late Angelina M. (Melchionda) Resmini, who passed away in 2013. He was the devoted father of Lisa Prostak and her late husband Kenneth of Randolph, John W. Resmini, Jr. and his wife Carol of Townsend. The loving grandfather of
Daniel Prostak of Los Angeles, CA, Elizabeth and Sarah Prostak, Jessica Witkowski, all of Randolph, David, Matthew, Gabrielle and Michael Resmini, all of Townsend. He was the dear brother of Stella McGoldrick of Medford, and the late Peter and Charlie Resmini. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Saturday, November 5th at 9 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial and military honors at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
