David L. Reeder, a lifelong resident of Charlestown and proud Townie, entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 66 years of age.
David was born in Cambridge on June 19, 1950, a son of Irene T. (McGonagle) Reeder and George E. Reeder. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1968. David worked as a laborer for the Boston Housing Authority for 21 years. He was a member of the Somerville City Club. Above all else, he loved being a Papa to his beloved grandchildren.
David is the beloved son of Irene T. (McGonagle) Reeder and the late George E. Reeder. He is the dear companion of 28 years to Barbara Jenner. He is the devoted father of Renee Hoey and Sean O'Brien and his companion Jane Connolly and father-in-law of Leonard Hoey Jr..He is the loving Papa to 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He is the beloved brother of George E. Reeder Jr, Irene Reeder and her husband Paul Trembley, Mary Dacey, Richard Reeder and his wife Lisa and the late Rhonda Reeder and John Reeder. David is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's Funeral on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
