John P. Hughes, affectionately known as "Jack" to his family and friends, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, October 27, 2016. He was 61 years of Age. Born in Norwood, he was one of five children of the late John E. and June (Lucier) Hughes.
Jack was raised and educated in Norwood and was a 1972 graduated of Norwood High School. He went on to attend North Adams State College where he earned and received his degree in business. He settled in Woburn in 1979 shortly following his marriage, starting his family and raising two sons. Jack worked as a painting contractor for 30 plus years and was a partner of the Hughes Brothers Painting, Co. which was founded in 1988. Always active, Jack loved watching and being a part of his sons participation in youth sports and enjoyed watching his sons baseball games at the North Woburn Men’s League. Jack was a proud longtime member of the Woburn Host Lions Club, he was also a member of the 19th Hole Club at the Woburn Country Club and was an avid golfer. In recent years nothing gave Jack more joy than the birth of his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them, seeing them grow and being a part of their lives. He will be greatly missed.
Jack was the devoted father of David Hughes and his wife Jill of Melrose, James Hughes and his wife Heather of Tewksbury. He was the loving Grandfather of Emma, Connor and Hailey. Beloved brother of Bob Hughes and his wife Judy of Canton, Tom Hughes and his wife Cindy of Walpole, Tim Hughes of Whitman and Judy Johnson and her husband Dale of Keene, NH. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Former husband of Deborah (McCoo) Schwartz.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Saturday, November 5th, from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon.
