Obituary


Aiken, SC - Roy Earl Gilbreath Jr ,89, beloved husband of Carolynn Gilbreath for 69 years, entered into rest on Thursday October 27, 2016.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Mark United Methodist Church on Washington Rd. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service at the church.

Mr. Gilbreath was born in Alabama but spent most of his life in Florida. After graduation from high school, where he was valedictorian, he joined the US Navy where he was an aviation electronics instructor. After his naval experience, he attended the University of Florida where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree, and later while working, his Master’s Degree in electrical engineering. He was employed as a systems project manager for Lockheed Martin for many years and retired in 1989.
Mr. Gilbreath enjoyed reading, golfing, fishing, and was an avid gardener. He was a member of St Mark UMC where he was past president of the Methodist Men’s Club and taught the Jane Wells Sunday School class. He was a very loving and devoted family man.

Survivors include his three sons; Roy Earl Gilbreath III, MD, Clint Gilbreath (Sharon), and Kent Gilbreath (Suzi). Four grandchildren; Kelly Housholder (Andrew), Lance Gilbreath, Kyle Gilbreath (Wendy), Carolynn Jewell Tovar (Adan) and two great grandchildren; Colt and Asher Housholder.
The family would like to thank Hospice of SC and Right At Home for their loving care during Mr. Gilbreath’s illness.
