Bryant, Barbara K., 94, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Barbara Koenig on November 13, 1921. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lowell C. Bryant; and great granddaughter, Blair Tabler.
She moved to Louisville when she was 17 and graduated from Girl’s High School where she was voted “prettiest”. For some reason she didn’t like that title, but it was true. She was pretty both inside and out. Shortly after moving to Louisville she met her future husband at his brother’s grocery store. When she left he said, “I’m going to marry her” and he did – 3 months later! They had 2 children and were married for 67 years.
Barbara is survived by her two children, Barbara Lechner (Mark) and Mark Bryant (Debbie); 4 grandsons, Michael Tabler, Kyle Tabler, Matthew Bryant, and Nicholas Bryant; two brothers, Joseph Koenig and George Koenig, plus nieces, nephews, and friends.
Barbara’s life was filled with family and friends and caring for others. Her biggest joy was taking care of her grandchildren, who lovingly nicknamed her “Wav”. She also loved traveling to the coast of Mississippi where she and Lowell had a vacation home. They had many fun years there fishing, boating and exploring the bayous and coastline with their Southern friends.
As of late, Barbara had many new friends at Magnolia Springs East where she resided for 4 years. She enjoyed her “new family” and was taken care of very lovingly by the caregivers. Her family is very grateful for the respect, love and care given to her while living there.
She was loved and will be missed by so many.
A private burial was held on Wednesday, October 26th, with a celebration of her life to be held at a later date.
