Obituary

Romeo J. "Peter" Thibault, 70, of New Bedford, died August 10, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Joan E. (Kaplan) Thibault. He was born in Fall River, the son of the late Romeo and Delima (Corneau) Thibault. When Joan and Romeo met, their love song was "Young Love". Their love continued through their 45 years of marriage. He loved talking about his hobbies and having the Preservation Society tour his pristine gardens. He was a compassionate and generous man. He and his wife were enthusiastic dog fanciers but he especially loved standard poodles. Mr. Thibault was formerly employed by New Bedford Housing Authority. He was a member of the Hawthorn Oncology Support Group, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, The New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home, the American Kennel Club, and the National Dog Groomers Association. He was a cherished father to his daughter and a genuine family man.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Elaine P. Thibault of New Bedford; and 3 sisters, Collette Halpin and family of Fall River, Jeannine Speight of Fall River, and Simone Miller of Fall River.
